How it works
How we protect your home in Spain while you are away
Most of the people who contact us live somewhere else for part of the year: Manchester, Dublin, Stockholm, Rotterdam. Their home in Spain might be a seafront flat, a bungalow on an urbanisation or a villa on a hillside, but the worry is always the same. What happens to the place when nobody is there, and how would I even know?
A Segurma monitored alarm answers both questions. Door and window sensors react the moment something is opened, before anyone is inside. Camera detectors in the rooms an intruder would cross capture images and sound. All of it goes to Segurma’s Alarm Receiving Centre, which is staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and an operator looks at the images before anyone is called. If it is the cleaner who forgot the code, nobody is sent. If it is a break-in, the police are alerted with the pictures as evidence, and the indoor siren tells the intruder they have been seen.
You hear about it at the same time, on your phone, wherever you are. From the Segurma app you can arm and disarm the alarm, see who came and went and, with the Kit Tranquilidad Plus, look in through the IP camera. The control panel talks to the centre over the internet and over the 4G/5G mobile network, with a backup battery, so a storm that knocks out the power or the fibre does not leave the house unwatched.
That is the difference between a house alarm that only makes a noise and a monitored one. A siren on an empty urbanisation in February may go unheard. A verified alert to the police, while the break-in is still happening, is what stops a burglary from turning into weeks of damage, or a home from being taken over by squatters before anyone notices.
Region by region
Coast, islands and cities: what changes from one area to another
The alarm works the same way everywhere. What changes is the kind of home, the months it stands empty and what the survey usually adds.
Costa Blanca and Costa Cálida
In the south of Alicante and around the Mar Menor, most English-speaking owners have a bungalow, townhouse or apartment on an urbanisation, often with a communal pool and a ground-floor terrace. Patio doors are the usual way in, so the survey puts a sensor on every door to the garden or terrace. Many of these homes are lived in through the winter and closed up for the summer heat.
Costa del Sol and Cádiz
From Torremolinos to Sotogrande, the mix is apartment blocks by the sea and villas in gated urbanisations on the hills. In a flat the protection goes on the front door and the terrace; in a villa with a garden, an outdoor detector raises the alert before anyone reaches the house. Segurma has offices in Málaga and Cádiz, and installation is often within a day or two.
Almería and the Costa Tropical
Whitewashed villages, cortijos inland and villas looking out to sea above Mojácar, Almuñécar or La Herradura. The nearest neighbour can be a field away, which is exactly why a siren on its own is not enough. The survey usually adds an outdoor detector and the IP camera, so you can look in from home.
Mallorca and the Canary Islands
Island homes are often fincas behind a stone wall, or apartments in resorts that go quiet after the season. In the Canaries, from Tenerife to Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, many owners come for the winter and leave in spring, the opposite of the mainland coast. IGIC applies there instead of VAT, so we confirm the exact fee in writing. For Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera, ask us first.
Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid
In the cities it is mostly flats: a front door, a balcony or terrace, and owners who travel for work or go home for the summer. Around them, the chalets of Madrid’s north-west, the Maresme and the Valencian urbanisations call for the same thinking as a coastal villa: every outside door covered and something watching the garden.
The Costa Brava and the Costa Daurada
Catalonia’s coast is a summer coast: houses in Begur, Roses or Cambrils that fill up in July and August and sit shuttered for much of the year. Canal-side homes in Empuriabrava have a door to the water as well as to the street. Segurma has an office in Tarragona, and installation is often within a day or two.
Your kind of home
Apartment, townhouse or villa: the alarm each one needs
The survey is free, and the final kit is agreed with you in writing before anything is fitted.
Apartments and flats
The Kit Tranquilidad usually covers it: a sensor on the front door, camera detectors in the living room and the main bedroom, the keypad and the siren. Add a sensor for each terrace door (€1/month). On the lower floors, the terrace is the first thing we look at.
Townhouses and bungalows
Two floors and a patio or garden mean more ways in. We cover the front door and every door to the outside, put a camera detector on each floor, and many owners add the IP camera to look in from abroad, which makes it the Kit Tranquilidad Plus.
Villas and fincas
More doors, more glass and a plot to cover. The Kit Tranquilidad Plus with an outdoor detector (€6/month) watching the garden or the pool raises the alert before anyone reaches the house. Extra sensors or cameras are added only where the survey finds a need.
Price
What it costs, wherever you are in Spain
The price is the same on the coast, on the islands and in the cities. It covers the equipment, the installation, maintenance, the connection to the Alarm Receiving Centre and the app. Extras such as an outdoor detector or a smoke detector are added only if your home needs them.

Questions
Questions about where we install
Anything else? Ask us, in English.
Which parts of Spain does Segurma cover?
Mainland Spain, Mallorca and the Canary Islands, including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. The areas on this page are where most of the English-speaking owners we help have their homes, but they are not the limit: if your town is not listed, send us the postcode and we confirm it straight away.
Do you install alarms in Ibiza, Menorca or Formentera?
Ask us first. Segurma covers Mallorca and the Canary Islands, but for the smaller Balearic islands we check your exact address before giving you a quote, so you are never promised something that cannot be delivered.
Is installation quicker in some areas than others?
Yes. In much of Andalusia, Murcia and Catalonia it is often a day or two after signing up. Elsewhere it is usually within 1 to 5 days. If you are only in Spain for a short stay, tell us your dates when you ask for a quote and we will try to fit the installation in while you are here.
Is there a Segurma office near my home?
In the areas on this page, Segurma has offices in Alicante, Málaga, Cádiz and Tarragona. The office makes no difference to the service: Segurma’s own technicians install in every area we list, and the same Alarm Receiving Centre watches every home, 24 hours a day. Your quote and questions are handled in English by us, by phone or on WhatsApp.
Does the alarm work the same in a city flat and a remote villa?
The monitoring does. Every alert goes to the same Alarm Receiving Centre, is checked by an operator and, if it is real, passed to the police with the images. What changes is the kit: a flat may need a door sensor and two camera detectors, while a villa with a plot usually adds an outdoor detector and the IP camera.
